This is a neighbor-to-neighbor bulletin board put together by a Grosse Pointe resident. It is independent and volunteer-run, and it is not affiliated with, operated by, sponsored by, or endorsed by the Grosse Pointe Public School System, Grosse Pointe South, Grosse Pointe North, or any other GPPSS school. Nobody at the district has anything to do with it.

- • We don't screen, verify, or background-check anyone. No license, insurance, or driving record is checked.
- • You post what you can do or what you need, you find each other, and the rest happens by phone between the two of you.

Why this exists
Grosse Pointe isn't a full-busing district. Bus eligibility is limited, in-district transfers get no bus service at all, and plenty of kids fall outside the lines — so walking, biking, or a parent driving has always carried more of the load here. Recent school closures and boundary changes put some kids farther from their assigned school than before, and a meaningful number now have to get across or along I-94 to get there. That isn't a walk most parents are comfortable with, especially for younger kids or in bad weather.

How does GP Carpool work?
Post a ride you can give or a ride your kid needs. Include the school, the days and the general area. Neighbors going the same way contact you directly, and you work out the details by phone or text. GP Carpool is a bulletin board, so nothing is booked or scheduled for you.
Who can use GP Carpool?
Any Grosse Pointe family with kids who need rides to school, practice or activities. Parents with an extra seat post what they can offer. Parents who need a ride post what they need. Everyone contacts each other directly, the way neighbors always have.
Is GP Carpool run by the school district?
No. GP Carpool is an independent, resident-run project and is not affiliated with Grosse Pointe Public School System. Nobody from the district runs it, reviews posts or arranges rides. It is a neighborhood bulletin board built by a parent for other parents.
Does GP Carpool cost anything?
No. GP Carpool is free and non-commercial. There are no payments anywhere on the site, no fees to post a ride and no charge to answer one. Any money for gas is between the families involved, and the site never touches it.
Is it safe to arrange rides with neighbors?
GP Carpool does not screen, verify or background-check anyone. Treat it like a bulletin board at the coffee shop. Talk on the phone first, meet the driver, and only arrange rides with families you are comfortable with. You decide who drives your kid.
